Club History -

We are an all-ages, family-friendly club united by a shared love of stepping away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Whether you own a caravan, camper trailer, or recreational vehicle, our community is all about getting away, relaxing, and exploring together. Most importantly, it’s a wonderful opportunity to build lasting friendships and create lifelong memories along the way.

History of the Club -

Established in 1974, SAPI (South Australia Post-Tel Institute) was formed by a group of friends working for Australia Post and Telecom who came together to create a caravan and camping club.
In 2013, the club needed to change its name as times had changed and the connection with the official API organisation had come to an end, meaning we could no longer continue using their name. After a vote by members, the club became known as the Family and Friends Caravan and Camping Club, a name that truly reflects who we are.
The founding members worked tirelessly to establish a welcoming, family-friendly club where people could enjoy camping, caravanning, and socialising together. Many of those early members remained with the club for many years, forming lifelong friendships. Some of them are still in contact with current members today.
More than 50 years later, we continue to uphold the same core values the founders envisioned—providing a friendly and inclusive environment while allowing the club to grow and adapt to the ever-changing world around us.

Our rallies are held monthly at a different location each time, usually within two hours of the Adelaide CBD — with the occasional longer trip for long weekends. These getaways are a wonderful way for you and your family to explore and enjoy different parts of South Australia alongside friends you’ve made within FFCCC.

Whether you camp in a tent or swag, travel with a camper trailer, caravan or motorhome, or prefer the comfort of a cabin, FFCCC has something for everyone.

Over the years, members have joined our club for many reasons, including:

  • Forming new and lasting friendships
  • Making better use of their caravan and camping equipment all year round
  • Connecting with people who share similar interests
  • Enjoying the great outdoors
  • Discovering and experiencing parts of South Australia they may not have otherwise visited
  • Relaxing at morning teas and “Happy Hour” while getting to know fellow members
  • Participating in fun club games and activities
  • Providing children with engaging activities and opportunities to make friends
  • Sharing meals, BBQs, or dining together at local hotels during selected rallies
  • Celebrating festive occasions throughout the year
  • Staying at mostly pet-friendly caravan parks, welcoming members with animals

When you travel with family and friends, you can do as little or as much as you like. All planned activities are optional — you’re free to unwind with a good book or join in and make the most of your weekend away.

Like many of our existing members, you too can build lifelong friendships with people who share your love of camping, caravanning, and exploring together.
